Producer Karan Johar has rescheduled the release of his next film Kurbaan.
2009 hasn’t been a great year for Akshay Kumar. Though, Kambakkht Ishq is one of the few hits of the year, Akshay has had three average releases this year in the form of Chandni Chowk to China, 8 x 10 Tasveer and Blue.
On the other hand, the only release Saif Ali Khan has had this year, Love Aaj Kal has been one of the biggest grosser of the year. So as far as the present year is concerned, Saif is a bigger star than Akshay.
Not really, if Karan Johar is to be believed. Karan Johar is said to have put the release of his film Kurbaan, starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, by one week ahead because he does not want his film to be released on the same day as Akshay Kumar’s De Dana Dan. Kurbaan will now release on November 20 instead of November 27.
If past records are of any importance, Karan Johar may have taken a very intelligent decision by avoiding a clash of Kurbaan and De Dana Dan.
Whereas Kurbaan has been in news for some intimate scenes between Saif and Kareena, De Dana Dan stars the team of Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal, who have given a number of hits together. The film is also a comedy, a strong point of both Akshay and Paresh Rawal. If that wasn’t enough, the film also stars Katrina Kaif, the lead lady of Bollywood, who these days is turning all she touches into gold.
So, may be Karan Johar has taken a right decision by trying to rescheduling the release of Kurbaan. By making Kurbaan release one week ahead of its time, Karan Johar has ensured that the film will have an exclusive run at the box office at least for a week.
